‘Shadow’ is a set of highly colourful pictures that look at our constant doppelgangers – our shadows. These pictures are small yet bold and graphic – vibrant, single-colour backgrounds and contrasting or complementary colours blocking out shadows, with figures in black and white.
Scenes are often from above, valuing the shadow cast over the figure. The shadows speak of times of day – the beginning and end of the day when shadows are long and we loom larger than ourselves. They snapshot our silhouettes even in the midst of movement.
Scenes in these pictures come from the everyday and the outdoors. From the beach, the street and the dog park. Characters range from families to couples to cyclists and to individuals. Often dogs are companions and sometimes characters in their own right.
