Lap swimming is mediation in movement, gliding over sand in a Coogee rock pool on a sunny afternoon.

This picture is part of the ‘In the shallows’ series of impasto oil paintings inspired by Sydney’s many ocean rock pools. Paint has been generously applied using a palette knife rather than a brush, giving texture and depth. Close up textures are abstract colours, resolving in clarity as you step back to take in the whole painting.
