Beach volleyball

Summer afternoon, hot sun on the sand, family volleyball by the sea.

This picture is part of the ‘oceanside’ series of paintings. Paint has been generously applied using a palette knife rather than a brush, giving texture and depth. Figures pop against a grainy sandscape while the ocean churns in the background. A single (sensible) figure sleeps under a rainbow umbrella.
